Flowbrite Joins the Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA) as a Supplier Partner

We’re excited to announce that Flowbrite has officially joined the Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA)as a Supplier Partner.

Over the past year, we’ve had the pleasure of working with a growing number of educational and student travel businesses. Joining SYTA is a natural next step for us as we continue to support an industry that delivers incredible travel experiences for young people around the world.

Understanding the financial challenges of educational travel

One thing we’ve quickly come to appreciate is that educational travel operates differently from many other sectors of the travel industry. School trips are often planned and sold many months, and sometimes more than a year, before departure. During that time, operators collect payments from schools and parents while making supplier payments at different stages throughout the planning process.

This longer booking cycle means businesses must carefully manage cash flow, budgets and international payments over an extended period.

Managing currency movements

For companies paying overseas hotels, transport providers, attractions and destination management companies, exchange rates can become another important consideration. Currency markets can move significantly between the time a trip is sold and when suppliers are paid. On larger group tours, even relatively small movements can affect costs and margins. Many educational travel companies choose to manage this risk through tools such as forward contracts, allowing them to lock in exchange rates for future payments and budget with greater confidence.
